You get an editable result, a highlight of everything added, before/after word counts, and readability scores.
Free visitors expand up to 1,500 characters per submission; paid plans up to 12,000. For the opposite job there is the Sentence Shortener, and for tone or formality changes the Paraphrasing Tool offers all eight modes of the same engine.

How do I expand a sentence with this tool?
Paste the sentence and click Expand. The tool develops it with clarification, context, and relevant elaboration, then highlights everything that was added so you can vet each new phrase. The result is fully editable.
Does it work as a paragraph expander too?
Yes, the same engine grows short paragraphs into fuller ones. Paste a thin paragraph (or several, up to your plan's character limit) and each is developed in place with the paragraph breaks preserved.
Will it invent facts to fill space?
It is explicitly instructed not to: the additions should be clarification, explanation, and smooth connective tissue around what you wrote, not new claims or statistics. Even so, always re-read AI additions before publishing, which is why the changed-words highlight exists.
Is expanding text a good way to hit a word count?
Only honestly. If a passage is thin because it genuinely under-explains something, expansion fixes real weakness. If you just need more words, padding is easy for teachers, editors, and readers to spot, and we will not pretend otherwise. Expand where the substance deserves more room.
How much longer will my text get?
Typically 30-80% more words depending on how compressed the input was. The before/after word counts on the result card show exactly what happened, and Expand again gives a different development of the same input.
Is it free?
Yes, no signup. Free visitors expand up to 1,500 characters per submission (paid plans up to 12,000), and each expansion uses part of a shared daily AI allowance shown by the quota chip.
