Generate placeholder text in one click: paragraphs, sentences, words, or list items, plain or as ready-made HTML.
How it works
Pick how much text you need and in what shape. Paragraphs are built from 4-7 randomized sentences of classic lorem vocabulary; sentences run 6-14 words. Copy gives you plain text, and Copy as HTML wraps paragraphs in <p> tags or list items in a <ul> so it drops straight into a template.
Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded and there is no signup.
Frequently asked questions
What is lorem ipsum?
Lorem ipsum is the printing and design industry's standard placeholder text, in use since the 1500s. It looks like Latin because it was scrambled from a passage of Cicero, but it is intentionally meaningless, so viewers judge the layout instead of reading the words.
Why use placeholder text at all?
When you design a page before the real copy exists, real-looking text shows how the layout will behave: line lengths, paragraph rhythm, and how much space content needs. Meaningless text keeps stakeholders focused on the design rather than critiquing draft copy.
Is it real Latin?
Not quite. It is derived from Cicero's "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (45 BC), but words were cut and scrambled, so it has no coherent meaning. That garbled quality is a feature: nobody stops to read it.
What does the "Start with Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" option do?
When checked, your text opens with the classic first sentence everyone recognizes. Uncheck it for fully random filler, useful when you need several distinct blocks that don't all begin identically.
How do I get the text as HTML?
Copy as HTML wraps the output for you: each paragraph in <p> tags, list items in a <ul>, ready to paste into a template or CMS source view.
How much text can I generate?
Up to 50 paragraphs, 200 sentences, 2,000 words, or 100 list items per click. Click Regenerate for a fresh batch as many times as you like.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser with no signup; your settings are remembered only in your own browser.
