How it works

The converter starts from the standard baseline of about 500 words per single-spaced page at 12pt Times New Roman (250 double-spaced) and adjusts for your font, size, and spacing. Enter a word count, or paste the text itself, and the page estimate updates live.

Everything runs locally. Real page counts also depend on margins and paragraph breaks, so treat this as the standard estimate everyone quotes, not a typeset preview.

Frequently asked questions

How many pages is 1,000 words?

About 2 pages single-spaced or 4 pages double-spaced at 12pt Times New Roman. That baseline, roughly 500 words per single-spaced page and 250 double-spaced, is the standard assumption teachers and publishers use.

How many pages is 500 words? 2,000 words?

500 words is about 1 page single-spaced (2 double-spaced). 2,000 words is about 4 pages single-spaced (8 double-spaced). Change the font, size, or spacing above and the estimate updates instantly.

How accurate is the estimate?

It uses the standard words-per-page baselines, but a real document also depends on margins, paragraph breaks, headings, and hyphenation, so treat the result as a close estimate, not a typeset preview. Word processors agree within a few percent for ordinary prose.

Why does the font change the page count?

Fonts take different horizontal space at the same point size: Verdana runs wide (fewer words per page), Calibri narrow (more words per page), with Times New Roman and Arial in between. The converter applies a factor per font.

What does double spacing do?

It doubles the vertical space per line, halving the words that fit on a page. Academic submissions usually require double spacing, which is why a 1,500-word essay is "6 pages" in class but 3 printed normally.

Can I paste my text instead of typing a word count?

Yes. Paste into the text box and the word count fills itself; the page estimate follows your chosen settings.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser with no signup; your settings are remembered only in your own browser.
