How it works
For every keyword you enter, the tool loads YouTube's public results page from a neutral session, with only the country and language you chose applied. It reads the videos in the order YouTube returned them: title, channel, views, length, and age. Your target, a specific video or any video from your channel, is matched against that list. It is reported with its position, or "not found" when it is not on the first page. The whole first page is one click away per keyword, so you can see who does rank.
Checks run as a background job. A handful of keywords finishes in seconds. A big batch takes a minute or two, and the progress bar tracks it keyword by keyword. The results page for a given keyword, country, and language is refreshed at most once a day, so repeat checks reuse the day's snapshot. Each keyword uses one SERP lookup from the shared daily allowance. Finished checks keep a shareable link for 7 days. Rankings are one-shot snapshots by design. There is no scheduled tracking.
Two caveats. What a signed-in viewer sees is personalised, so their order will differ from the neutral page. The neutral page is the fair yardstick. And YouTube reshuffles results all the time, so treat a move of one or two places between checks as noise, not a trend. To move a ranking rather than watch it, the YouTube Video SEO Checker turns the video's metadata into a concrete to-do list.
What the columns mean

- Your video on the page
- The matched video's title, with a link, when found.
- Top result
- The number-one video for the keyword: the competition to study.
- First page
- Opens the full parsed list for that keyword: every video with channel, views, length, and age, with your match highlighted.
- Quota chip
- Your remaining daily SERP lookups and the per-check keyword cap for your plan.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check my YouTube ranking for a keyword?
Enter the keywords, one per line. Paste your video URL, or your channel's URL or @handle. Pick the country and language, and run the check. For every keyword the tool reads the first page of YouTube's own results and shows the videos in the order YouTube returned them. Yours is highlighted with its position, or marked "not found" when it is not on the first page.
Why is my position different from what I see on my own YouTube?
Because your own results are personalised. YouTube reorders them from your watch history, subscriptions, and location, and it experiments constantly. This tool checks from a neutral session with only the country and language set. That is closer to what a stranger sees, and that is the number that matters for reach. Positions also move hour to hour on their own. A wobble of one or two places between runs is normal.
What does "first page" cover?
The videos YouTube returns before infinite scroll starts loading more. That is usually 10 to 20 entries once ads and shelf blocks are excluded, and it is where nearly all search clicks happen. A video outside it is reported as not found. In practice that means the keyword is not yet sending meaningful search traffic.
Can I check rankings in another country or language?
Yes. The country and language selectors set the region and interface language of the check, the same way a viewer there would search. Rankings differ a great deal between markets, above all for keywords with local competitors. A channel that targets several countries should check its main keywords in each.
Does this track my rankings over time?
No, by design. Every check is a fresh snapshot you run when you want one. Nothing is scheduled and no ranking history is stored. Results pages are kept for 7 days only, so share links work. If you want a record over time, export the CSV after each check and keep the files. Each is stamped with the date.
How do I improve a video's ranking for a keyword?
Start with the metadata the search engine reads: the exact phrase in the title, front-loaded, in the first lines of the description, and in chapters. Then work on the click-through and watch-time signals that keep it ranked. Run the video through the YouTube Video SEO Checker for a concrete checklist. Use the YouTube Keyword Tool to confirm you are targeting a phrase people search for.
Can I check a whole channel instead of one video?
Yes. Give the channel URL or @handle as the target. Every keyword then reports the first video from that channel found on the page, whichever video it is. That answers "does my channel rank for this at all?", which is the right question when several of your videos target the same topic.
Is the YouTube rank checker free? How many keywords can I check?
It is free with no signup. Keywords per check scale by plan, from 10 free up to 200 on Platinum. Each keyword uses one SERP lookup from the shared daily allowance shown in the quota chip. Repeated checks of the same keyword on the same day reuse the day's cached results page. Every plan has a daily cap, and higher tiers get more.
