Reddit rewards posts that read like a member wrote them: a plain, specific title, a body that gets to the point, honest about what the poster knows and does not know, with a TL;DR for skimmers. The Reddit Post Generator writes that kind of draft from a one-line description and the post type you pick (question, discussion, guide, review or test, story, feedback request, announcement, or share my work), in Reddit Markdown so headings, lists, and quotes render when you paste it in Markdown mode.

What makes a Reddit post get read instead of downvoted?
A title that says exactly what is inside, a first paragraph that gets to the point, real detail (numbers, model names, what you tried), honesty about what you do not know, and no marketing voice: no superlatives, no "game changer", no link-in-bio energy. Format for skimming with short paragraphs and a TL;DR. Then follow the community's rules and reply to the comments; a post with an absent author dies.
Can I promote my product, blog, or app with these posts?
Only the way Reddit allows it. Most communities remove pure self-promotion and expect you to contribute far more than you promote (the old 9:1 rule of thumb); many ban links to your own site outright. The "Share my work" type writes a post that explains what you made and why and invites feedback, without ad language, but whether it is welcome is the subreddit's call. Read the rules first, and never pretend to be a neutral customer.
Why is the body written in Markdown?
Because that is how Reddit formats posts: two asterisks for bold, a greater-than sign for a quote, dashes for lists, hashes for headings. Paste the draft into Reddit in Markdown mode and it renders; in the default rich-text editor the symbols show as plain text. The Reddit Markdown Editor previews it and has a button for every construct.
How long should a Reddit post be?
As long as the point needs and no longer. Drafts here run roughly 120 to 450 words, longer for guides, which is the range that gets read in full; Reddit allows 40,000 characters (80,000 with Premium), but a long post needs headings and a TL;DR to survive skimming. Titles are limited to 300 characters and the feed shows about the first 100 to 120.
Does it know the rules of my subreddit?
No. It follows Reddit-wide conventions and, if you name the subreddit, the general style of that kind of community, but it cannot read the community's rules, required flair, title tags, or the day-of-week rules many subreddits have. Check those yourself before posting; a removed post is a wasted draft.
Can I edit the draft before posting?
You should. Open it in the Reddit Markdown Editor, put the details only you know in your own words, cut anything that does not sound like you, and preview the formatting. Reddit readers are quick to spot generic text, and a post that reads as yours gets better replies.
