How it works
eBay's final value fee is a percentage of the TOTAL amount of the sale, item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer, and most categories pay 13.6%. On top of that, eBay adds a flat per-order fee: $0.30 for orders of $10 or less, $0.40 above that.
Formula: Fees = (Price + Shipping) x Category rate + Per-order fee; You receive = Total - Fees.
Rates verified against eBay's published schedule in July 2026; they change occasionally and vary by category and store level, so the rate is fully editable.
Advanced options add a Promoted Listings ad rate, so you can see your true take-home when a sale comes through a promoted placement.

Frequently asked questions
How much does eBay take from a sale?
For most categories, 13.6% of the total sale (item plus buyer-paid shipping) plus a $0.30-$0.40 per-order fee. On a $100 item with free shipping that is $13.60 + $0.40 = $14.00, leaving you $86.00.
Is the fee charged on shipping too?
Yes. eBay calculates the final value fee on the total amount of the sale, which includes the shipping you charge the buyer (and even sales tax collected). Charging $1 for the item and $50 for shipping does not avoid fees.
Which categories have different rates?
Notable exceptions: Books, Movies & Music pay around 15.3%, athletic shoes over $150 pay 8%, and guitars & basses about 6.7%. High-value items also tier down above certain thresholds (for example 2.35% on the portion over $7,500 in most categories). Pick a preset or enter your exact rate.
Do eBay Store subscribers pay less?
Yes, a Basic Store or higher drops most categories to about 12.7%. Enter your store rate in the custom rate field to see your exact numbers.
What about Promoted Listings fees?
If a sale comes through a Promoted Listings (General) placement, eBay adds your chosen ad rate on top of the standard fees. Turn on Advanced options and enter your ad rate to include it.
Are these the exact current fees?
The defaults match eBay's published US schedule as of July 2026 (13.6% + $0.30/$0.40), but eBay adjusts rates from time to time and by category, so every rate here is editable. Check your Seller Hub for your exact rates. This tool is not affiliated with eBay.
