How it works

An Etsy sale carries three mandatory fees: the $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the total (item + shipping), and payment processing (3% + $0.25 in the US; editable for other countries). If the order came through Offsite Ads, an extra 15% applies (12% for shops over $10k/year).

Formula: Fees = $0.20 + 6.5% x Total + (Processing rate x Total + Fixed) + Offsite Ads % x Total.

Rates verified against Etsy's published schedule in July 2026; the processing fields are editable because they vary by country.

Advanced options add the Offsite Ads fee (15%, or 12% for larger shops) for orders that came through Etsy's external advertising.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take from a sale?

On a typical organic sale, roughly 9.5% + $0.45: the $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, and 3% + $0.25 US payment processing. On a $25 item with $5 shipping that is $3.30, leaving you $26.70. An Offsite Ads order adds 12-15% more.

Is the transaction fee charged on shipping?

Yes. Etsy's 6.5% applies to the whole amount the buyer pays you, including shipping, gift wrap, and personalization charges. Free-shipping pricing does not change the total fee, only where it is calculated.

What are Offsite Ads fees and can I avoid them?

Etsy advertises listings on Google and social platforms; when a buyer clicks such an ad and orders within 30 days, you pay 15% of that order (12% if your shop made over $10,000 in the trailing year, and at that level you cannot opt out). Smaller shops can opt out in settings. Use Advanced options to include the fee.

When is the $0.20 listing fee charged?

When you publish a listing, every four months at renewal, and again after each sale (auto-renew). Multi-quantity listings pay a fresh $0.20 each time a unit sells, which is why this calculator counts it per sale.

Are these the exact current Etsy fees?

The defaults match Etsy's published US schedule as of July 2026, but payment processing varies by country and Etsy revises fees occasionally, so the rates here are editable. Check your Payment account for exact amounts. This tool is not affiliated with Etsy.
