A thread that gets read has a shape: the first post earns the tap on "Show this thread" with a claim, a number, or a question and nothing else; each middle post carries exactly one idea with something concrete (an example, a figure, a step); the last post says what to take away and asks for one thing (follow, reply, bookmark, or the link). The generator writes seven posts in that shape and numbers them 1/7 to 7/7 at the end of each, keeping every post under 270 characters so you can add a word without breaking the limit. The live counter under each card shows exactly where you stand; edit inline and copy.

How do I make a thread on X (Twitter)?

How long should an X thread be?
As long as the ideas, and no longer: five to ten posts is the range most read threads sit in. The generator writes seven (hook, five ideas, close) and Generate more extends it. Each post should stand on its own when it shows up out of context in someone's timeline, which is why every post here carries one idea and its number.
What makes a good first post (hook)?
A specific promise or a surprising claim with no preamble: "We lost $40k on ads before this one change" beats "A thread on ad spend". Numbers, a result, or a question work; "Thread:" on its own does not. The first post is what people see in the timeline; the rest is behind "Show this thread", so the hook does all the selling.
Should I number the posts, and where does the link go?
Numbering (1/7, 2/7) tells readers how long the thread is and where they are, and it is the convention on X. The link belongs in the last post or in a reply after it, not in the hook: posts with links tend to reach fewer people, so the thread earns attention first and sends people away last.
Does it count characters the way X does?
The card counter counts characters against 280; X additionally counts every link as 23 and most emoji as 2. The posts are written to stay under 270 so there is room, and the Twitter Character Counter applies X's exact rules if you want the precise number for a post with links or emoji.
Can I split my own article or notes into a thread?
