Profile preview
0 / 30 name characters
0 / 200 bio characters
Usernames (u/) accept letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens only and never change, so the style goes in the display name, the bio, and the odd accent in a comment. Inside posts, Reddit's own **bold** and *italic* Markdown stays readable and searchable.
How it works
Reddit has no font picker, but it renders any Unicode character. Unicode carries whole alphabets that look like bold, italic, script, gothic, bubble, small-caps, and monospace lettering. The Reddit Font Generator rewrites your text into those alphabets, shows it in a profile preview, and copies the result to paste into your display name, bio, post, or comment.
- Display name meter: the styled name against Reddit's 30-character display name limit, with the plain count shown when a style adds invisible marks.
- Bio count: the styled text against the 200-character bio.
- 20+ styles, each with a Copy button. Click a card's text to copy it.
- Usernames stay plain: u/ handles accept letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens only, and cannot be changed after signup.
- Nothing is uploaded. Everything runs in your browser.
Use styled text sparingly in posts and comments. Many communities remove styled titles, Reddit search matches plain words, and screen readers stumble on the characters. For bold or italics inside a post, Reddit's own Markdown (**bold**, *italic*) is the better tool.
What you will see
- Display name
- The optional name shown on your profile, up to 30 characters, separate from the permanent u/ username.
- Bio, post, comment, or any text
- The text rendered in every style. Empty fields show a sample so you can compare styles first.
- Profile preview
- A Reddit-style profile card showing the display name and bio in the style picked in the Preview style menu.
- Name meter and bio count
- Styled-character counts against 30 and 200. Amber near the name limit, red over it.
- Style cards
- Every style with its name and a Copy button. Clicking the styled text copies it.
Frequently asked questions
How does the Reddit font generator work?
Type your display name, bio, or any text and every style updates at once. Each style is built from real Unicode characters rather than a font file. So you can press Copy on a style and paste it anywhere Reddit accepts text: your display name and bio in profile settings, a post title or body, or a comment. The profile preview shows the display name and bio in the style you pick before you copy.
Where on Reddit can I use these fonts?
In your profile display name, your bio (the "About" description), post bodies, and comments. Post titles too, although a styled title is hard to read in the feed and some communities remove them. The one place they never work is the username itself, the u/ handle. It accepts plain letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens only, and cannot be changed later. Put the style in the display name instead.
Will a fancy font get my post or comment removed?
It can. Many subreddits treat styled Unicode in titles as attention-seeking and remove it. Screen readers read the characters letter by letter, or not at all. So keep styled text to your display name, bio, and the odd accent in a comment. Reddit search matches plain words too. A styled title is not found by the words it looks like.
Why can I not use a fancy font in my Reddit username?
Reddit usernames are limited to 3 to 20 characters of letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens, and a username is permanent once the account exists. A display name is separate. It can be up to 30 characters, can be changed at any time, shows on your profile and in some places in the app, and accepts styled Unicode. The Reddit Username Generator handles the plain handle.
Do fancy fonts count against the character limits?
Yes. Each styled letter is one character, the same as a plain letter, so a 20-character name stays 20 characters in Bold or Script. The meters here count the styled text against the 30-character display name and the 200-character bio. Two styles are the exception. Strikethrough and Underline add an invisible combining mark after every letter, which doubles the count. The meter shows both the styled and the plain count when they differ.
Why do some letters show as boxes or question marks?
The device you pasted on has no glyph for that Unicode character in its font. The text is still correct. It just cannot be drawn there. Bold, Italic, Sans Bold, and Monospace have the widest support across the Reddit apps and browsers. The more decorative styles vary by phone, so check on the device most of your readers use.
How do I make text bold or italic inside a Reddit post without a fancy font?
With Reddit's own formatting: **bold**, *italic*, ~~strikethrough~~, and ^(superscript) in Markdown mode. That renders as real formatting, stays searchable, and works for screen readers. It is the better choice inside posts and comments. The Reddit Markdown Editor previews it and has a button for each.
Is the Reddit font generator free, and is my text private?
It is free, with no signup, and nothing connects to your Reddit account. Everything runs in your browser, so your text is never uploaded. Your latest text and style are remembered only in your own browser.
