How it works

Instagram strips blank lines from captions, bios, and comments, so paragraph spacing you typed collapses when you post. The Instagram Line Break Generator keeps that spacing. Paste or type your text on the left and press Enter twice wherever you want a gap. The right-hand box shows the same text with an invisible character on every blank line, which Instagram keeps. Copy it and paste it into the app.

  • Blank-line character: an invisible braille blank by default; zero-width space, invisible separator, or a visible period are also available.
  • Trim trailing spaces removes spaces at the end of each line, another reason breaks vanish.
  • Live limits: the formatted text is counted against the 2,200-character caption / comment limit, the 150-character bio limit, and the 30-hashtag ceiling, spacers included.
  • Nothing is uploaded; everything runs in your browser and your latest text is remembered only there.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Instagram remove my line breaks?

Instagram trims blank lines out of captions, bios, and comments. A paragraph gap you typed as two presses of Enter collapses into a single line break. A line that ends in a space can lose its break entirely. Your text is not wrong, the app just strips whitespace-only lines when it saves.

How does the line break generator fix it?

Every empty line in your text gets an invisible Unicode character, so Instagram sees a line that contains "something" and keeps it. Trailing spaces are also trimmed from each line so the break after it survives. Copy the result with the button and paste it straight into the caption, bio, or comment field.

Which invisible character is used, and can I change it?

By default an invisible braille blank (U+2800), which Instagram treats as text and which stays invisible on every phone we know of. The menu also offers a zero-width space (U+200B) and an invisible separator (U+2063), plus a visible period on its own line, the classic manual trick, if you prefer something you can see. Each blank line uses one character.

Does this work for the Instagram bio as well as captions?

Yes. Paste the formatted text into the bio field in Edit profile and the line breaks stay. Bios are limited to 150 characters including the spacer characters, so watch the bio counter; captions and comments allow 2,200.

Do the spacer characters count against the character limit?

Yes, one character per blank line. The counters show the formatted text, spacers included, so what you see here is what Instagram counts: 2,200 for a caption or comment, 150 for a bio.

My line breaks still disappear. What else can I check?

There are three usual causes. A line ending in a space, or an emoji followed by a space, which the tool trims. Pasting from an app that adds its own formatting, so paste into the tool first and then copy from the tool. And typing the breaks in a comment on desktop, where Enter can submit the comment instead of adding a line. Copying from the tool and pasting into the Instagram app on your phone is the most reliable path.

How many hashtags can an Instagram caption have?

Up to 30 per post, and Instagram itself recommends 3 to 5 relevant ones. The hashtag counter here counts what is in your text so you can see the total before posting. If you keep hashtags in the first comment, format that comment with the tool too.

Is the Instagram line break generator free, and is my text private?

Completely free, no signup, and nothing connects to your Instagram account. Everything runs in your browser, so your caption is never uploaded; your latest text is remembered only in your own browser so it survives a reload.
