PayPal Fee Calculator

See the PayPal fee and what you actually receive on any amount. Editable rate for any country.

Enter the transaction amount to see the PayPal fee and what you actually receive. The rate and fixed fee are editable for any country or transaction type.

How it works

PayPal charges a percentage of the transaction plus a small fixed fee. Enter the amount, and adjust the fee rate and fixed fee to match your situation. The defaults (2.99% + 0.49) reflect common US goods-and-services pricing.

Formula: Fee = Amount x (Rate / 100) + Fixed fee; You receive = Amount - Fee.

Advanced options let you enter the amount you want to receive, and the calculator works out what to charge so the fee still leaves you with that exact amount.

Everything runs in your browser. Your numbers are never sent to a server, and there is no signup or limit. Your last entries are remembered locally so the calculator is ready next time.

Frequently asked questions

How are PayPal fees calculated?

PayPal takes a percentage of the payment plus a fixed per-transaction fee. For example, on a $100 payment at 2.99% + $0.49, the fee is $2.99 + $0.49 = $3.48, leaving you $96.52.

Are these the exact PayPal fees?

The defaults are common US rates, but PayPal fees vary by country, currency, transaction type (goods and services, micropayments, international), and your account. Always confirm your real rate in your PayPal account, then enter it here for an exact figure. This is the reason the rate and fixed fee are editable.

How much should I charge to receive a specific amount?

To net a target after fees, divide by (1 minus the rate as a decimal) and add the fixed fee back. For a $100 target at 2.99% + $0.49: ($100 + $0.49) / (1 - 0.0299) = about $103.59 to request. Turn on Advanced options and enter your target amount to get this worked out for you.

Does PayPal charge the receiver or the sender?

For standard goods-and-services payments the receiver (seller) pays the fee, which is what this calculator shows by default. Some payment types and "friends and family" transfers differ, so check the type that applies to you.

Is this PayPal fee calculator free?

Yes, free with no signup. It runs entirely in your browser and is not affiliated with PayPal.
