People Also Search For (PASF) Keywords

What is "People Also Search For"?
"People Also Search For" (PASF) is a box of related searches that Google shows on its results page.
It usually appears after you click a result and then come straight back to Google, which Google reads as a sign that the result did not quite answer your question.
The keywords inside it are terms that other people searched for around the same topic. It is Google's own hint at what else your audience is looking for, drawn from real search behaviour.
Google rolled the feature out in early 2018. For anyone doing keyword research it is a goldmine of related queries, straight from Google.
People Also Search For vs People Also Ask
These two Google features sit close together and are easy to mix up, but they do different jobs.
People Also Search For lists related keywords, the short phrases other people also typed. It is the place to find related keywords to target.
People Also Ask shows full questions in a drop-down, each with a snippet answer. It is the place to find the questions worth answering on your page.
In short, use People Also Search For for keyword ideas and People Also Ask for question ideas. This page, and the Keywords Everywhere widget, is about the first one.
Why PASF keywords are a goldmine for SEO and PPC
These keywords come straight from Google, so they are real related demand, not a tool's guess at what might be related.
For SEO that is gold. Each PASF keyword is a related topic your audience already searches for, which makes it a ready list of sections, FAQs or new articles to write.
For PPC it widens your keyword set with terms close to your money keyword, so you can spot cheaper or less obvious phrases to bid on.
The trick is knowing which ones are worth the effort. That is where the search volume matters, and why Keywords Everywhere puts a number next to every keyword instead of leaving you to guess.
How Keywords Everywhere shows every PASF keyword
Google attaches about six PASF keywords to each search result, but it only reveals them one result at a time, after you click a result and come back.
Pulling the full set by hand is slow. Keywords Everywhere reads the keywords embedded in the page for every result at once, removes the duplicates, and lists them together in a single "People Also Search For" widget on the right of Google.
Alongside it you get the matching Related keywords widget, so both of Google's keyword suggestions sit side by side, each with its search volume, CPC and competition. See the screenshot at the top of this page.
There is a People Also Search For widget on YouTube too, so you can pull the same related keywords while you research video topics.
Prefer not to install the extension? Our free Google Keyword Tool surfaces a long list of related keyword ideas for any seed keyword, each with its Google search volume, right in your browser.
How do I see the PASF keywords?
Install the browser add-on for Chrome, Firefox or Edge, then go to Google and run a search as usual.
Every time you search, two widgets appear on the right of Google. The top one holds the Related keywords for your query, and the one below it holds the People Also Search For keywords.
These keywords come directly from Google, so for some queries Google simply does not provide any, and the widget stays empty. That is Google's choice, not a fault with the extension.
Can I see the monthly search volume for PASF keywords?
Yes. The search volume, CPC and competition come from Google Keyword Planner, the same data Google gives its advertisers.
The metrics are a paid feature, so you need credits to see them, and each keyword uses one credit.
To conserve credits you can switch the volumes off by default. When you do, the widget shows a "Load Metrics" button, and the numbers load only when you click it.
